Jammu, April 18: Padamshree Vaidya Rajesh Koteka, Secretary, Union Ministry of Ayush, today visited the Ayush Jammu Directorate and took a detailed tour of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital in Jammu along with Dr. Mohan Singh (Director, Ayush J&K). did.
The Secretary visited OPD block, IPD block and various procedural sections of Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu and interacted with patients and their attendants. He also interacted with doctors and paramedical staff and asked about the services provided to patients. He also visited other service areas such as laboratories and pharmacies.
The union secretary also visited the demonstration herb garden established within the Ayush and Charak Vatika Bureau of the hospital. He advised the executives and stakeholders to further improve and maintain the service standards of the hospital in compliance with the National Accreditation Board for Ayush Hospitals so that the hospital can obtain NABH certification. He assured all support for upgrading the hospital to provide seamless services.
Ayush J&K Director said that the purpose of establishing herbal gardens is to educate the Ayush fraternity to establish herbal gardens in all Ayush facilities in J&K, where around 90 different species of medicinal plants will be planted. I told the union secretary that I was being held accountable. The union secretary advised the Ayush J&K director to share the photos of the demonstration herb garden at the directorate and hospital complex with the Ayush ministry so that the same can be replicated in other states/UTs of the country.
Secretary AYUSH was very impressed with the functioning of Panchkarma and Kshalsutra departments in the hospital. He also advised setting up separate specialized Panchkarma units for male and female patients with all facilities including pantries and washrooms.
The union secretary also recommended the constitution of Institutional Ethics Committees of Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu, Srinagar and Government Unani Hospital Sharten and Department of Health Research (Government of India) to carry out evidence-based clinical research on efficacy and safety.
