Jammu, April 18: Mr. Padamshree Vaidya Rajesh Koteka, Union Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India visited the Ayush Directorate, Jammu and conducted a detailed inspection of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital in Jammu. He was accompanied by Ayush J&K Director Dr Mohan Singh.
During his visit, he inspected various sections of the hospital including Outpatient Department (OPD) block, Inpatient Department (IPD) block and various treatment sections where he interacted with patients, attendants, doctors and paramedical staff.
Mr. Koteka lauded the efforts of Medical Superintendent Dr Vandana Dogra and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Aruna Bhat for providing specialized services such as Panchkarma, Kshal Sutra, leech therapy and auxiliary surgical procedures at Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu. He also appreciated the affordable cost of diagnostic services such as radio diagnostics and pathology services.
He advised hospital officials to strive for accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Ayush Hospitals (NABH) and promised support for the development of hospital infrastructure. Mr. Koteka also visited the demonstration herb garden set up at Ayush and Charak Vatika Directorate, Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu and praised the efforts to educate Ayush practitioners about herbal gardens.
Koteka praised the artwork depicting Ayush and its components on the walls of the hospital’s directorate. He encouraged the incumbent postgraduate doctoral candidates to appear for the Medical Eligibility Examination to serve in Utah State Ayush University, J&K. He also acknowledged the functioning of Panchkarma and Kshalsutra departments in the hospital and advised them to document their extraordinary activities.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the micro-management approach of Ayush J&K Directorate, including constitution of Institutional Ethics Committee for various public health campaigns and evidence-based clinical research on Ayurvedic and Unani treatment protocols. He emphasized the need to replicate such initiatives across the country.
