Ugadi 2024: This is the time when the cold and harsh winter season is over and spring is here. It also marks the beginning of the harvest season in India. New Year’s celebrations are marked by numerous rituals in different regions of the country. While in West Bengal, Poila Boishak is celebrated, in Maharashtra, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi or Yugadi is celebrated by the people of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Ugadi is a special festival celebrated in many parts of South India. It is believed that Lord Brahma created the universe on this special day.

As we gear up to celebrate Ugadi on April 9, here is an easy recipe to make Mango Pachadi at home. (unsplash)

On this day, a 60-year cycle – Samvatsara – begins. People observe the day by taking oil baths and eating neem leaves. Mango pachadi is an important preparation for Ugadi celebrations. It is made with unripe mangoes and is compulsory to be eaten on the auspicious day of Yugadi. This dish is sweet, salty and sour, symbolizing the complexity of life and what the new year has in store for us. As we gear up to celebrate Ugadi on April 9, here is an easy recipe to make Mango Pachadi at home.

material:

1 raw mango (cut into 1-inch pieces)

1 cup scrap coconut

2 tablespoons mustard seeds

2 green chillies

1 cup yogurt

To taste the salt

pinch of sugar

Method:

Boil the mango in 1 cup of water and keep aside. Next, grind the coconut, green chilies and mustard seeds into a fine paste along with enough water. Add the boiled mango and fine paste to the pot and simmer for about 1 minute. Lower the heat, add the yogurt, and simmer for a while until everything is mixed. Turn off the heat, add salt and sugar, and mix everything together.
