Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said the state government is planning to set up an Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medical college in the state.
After visiting the State Ayurvedic Hospital, the Chief Minister added that the state government had recently written to the Central government proposing to first set up an Ayurvedic Medical College followed by a Homeopathic Medical College.
“There are several issues regarding setting up of universities in the state and I have directed the authorities concerned to resolve these issues, including land-related issues, at the earliest. I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved soon,” he told media.
“The government also plans to expand the infrastructure at the State Ayurvedic Hospital here,” said Saha, himself an oral surgeon, who took over as chief minister in May 2022 after holding key positions at Tripura Medical College and BR Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital in the state capital.
Accompanied by Health Minister Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarao, Minister of Health, Dr Saha said the public had high expectations of the National Ayurvedic Hospital and a large number of patients, including outpatients, visit the hospital every day.
He said the state government, with the support of the Federal Government, has been trying to significantly improve the health infrastructure in the state.
