- This morning at Good Things Utah, we are hosting an event in Southern Utah called Yin on Fire, for adults 18+. The title of the event refers to Yin energy (as in Yin/Yang) – the feminine energy that resides within all of us. We all have Yin energy, and in both men and women, Yin energy can hurt deeply. “Yin on Fire” is a call to burn away old feminine energy programming that doesn’t serve us, and “ignite” the truth of Yin – the energy of creation, love, and nurturing. Founder Angel Lyn shares why she started the event.
- “I’m from Southern Utah. From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people live happier, healthier lives. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from BYU 19 years ago. I had planned to become a therapist, but something took me out of the world of clinical mental health and into holistic healing beyond psychology, learning about the mind-body connection. This quest was sparked by my experiences with healing customs and practices in places I’ve traveled and lived in, including Spain, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii. I moved back to my hometown about 10 years ago. Over the last decade, I’ve noticed that this region is home to a large group of people who are passionate about health, well-educated, and skilled in facilitating healing practices. I’ve been thinking about what I can do to champion and raise awareness of the great work and abilities of these practitioners. About two years ago, a clear vision came to my mind: hosting a healing festival. At the time, I had never heard the term “transformation festival” or seen anything like it. Now I know that such festivals take place all over the world. But at the time, I just had the image in my head and started to seek out and gather the people I needed to make it happen. Our festival is unique because our audience is unique. It is not exactly like any other festival I know. We do not sell alcohol or promote anything that prevents a person from being fully present, fully aware, and fully connected with themselves. We are already connecting people of multiple cultures. We welcome everyone and treat everyone equally. Participants realize that despite different backgrounds and beliefs, they can connect on a heart and soul level. We are creating a peaceful community with a broader consciousness where a culture of love, respect, and kindness replaces increasingly divisive societal trends of fear and aggressive judgment around different beliefs.
- We are bringing “…unity back to our community.” The vision for this four-day, three-night outdoor festival is to lead people away from fear, separation and loneliness into a space of healing and into a community of inclusion, support, connection, growth and expansion.
- The aim is to teach participants options for healing through participation by choosing from over 100 healing workshops. These classes introduce techniques related to the mind, body, heart and spirit from practices and cultures around the world, such as breathing and amino acids for mental health, sound healing through vocalization and harmony, crystal sound bowls, Tibetan medicine, womb healing, mood cycles and the moon, sexual healing through tantra, human design, mental resilience, emotional intelligence, food for healing, various yoga, spiritually attuned parenting, healing feminine and masculine energy, teaching partner dance as a gateway to relationship insights, hypnosis to heal the inner child, cellulite removal and fascial healing, transforming midlife crisis into midlife awakening, writing your own story, art for emotional expression, breaking free from the shame game, body mapping and more. These are just a selection from the half-day schedule. The goal of the event is to learn, play, heal and grow.
