Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), University of Hyderabad in collaboration with National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine (NCISM) has spearheaded an innovative training programme titled “Computational Tools for Teaching and Learning Sanskrit”. The initiative has successfully trained 450 Ayurvedic health practitioners in nine batches of 50 each. The programme is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and lays emphasis on integrating Indian knowledge systems with modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The inauguration ceremony for the 9th and final batch was held on 11 July 2024 at the Seminar Hall, MMTTC. The event began with the traditional lighting of a lamp and was moderated by Dr. Vaidya Jayant Yeshwant Deopujari, Chairman, NCISM. The theme of the workshop was eloquently introduced by Prof. Kamlesh K. Dwivedi. The effectiveness of the workshop was reiterated by Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Director, MMTTC and Dr. Amba Kulkarni, Course Coordinator.
This training program embodies the essence of NEP, which advocates a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to education rooted in India’s rich cultural heritage. By utilizing computational tools to teach and learn Sanskrit, the program not only preserves but also promotes a classical language that is essential for the study of Ayurveda. This initiative realizes NEP’s vision of leveraging technology to enhance educational outcomes, equipping practitioners with the skills to access and interpret ancient texts using modern digital tools.
Throughout its nine batches, the program has been a remarkable success.
Training of 450 Ayurvedic medical practitioners: A comprehensive curriculum has enabled medical practitioners to effectively use computational tools in Ayurvedic research and practice.

With the successful completion of all batches, MMTTC is gearing up to expand its focus on implementing the NEP and training teachers across the country. By leveraging the Indian knowledge system in the continued alignment with the objectives of the NEP, MMTTC aims to enhance the quality of education and ensure that the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda is preserved and disseminated through modern educational techniques.
