new york: Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is due to be released from hospital on Saturday after successful knee surgery in the United States.
In a short update, the Dalai Lama’s personal physician, Dr. Tsetan D. Sadhushan, and Tenzin Takla, secretary to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, detailed the Dalai Lama’s condition following total knee replacement surgery on Friday morning.
“His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s knee surgery this morning was a great success and he is currently resting in his hospital room. His Holiness’s condition is stable,” they said in an online briefing on X.
The Dalai Lama’s doctor also said there were no problems with the treatment.
“There were no problems whatsoever. The Pope is ready to have lunch now. He is expected to be discharged tomorrow,” he said.
“All the doctors and nurses at the hospital are providing the highest level of service to His Holiness,” he said, adding that all the hospital staff here are extremely dedicated to serving the Pope to the best of their ability.
His doctor emphasized that this was the best hospital in the United States for knee surgery.
“This is the best hospital in the United States for knee surgery and the best orthopedic surgeons in the country, so you can rest easy, guys,” he added.
Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama arrives in New York
Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, arrived in New York on Monday after a stop in Zurich, Switzerland, where he was welcomed by members of the Tibetan community and well-wishers.
The Dalai Lama left Dharamsala for Delhi on Friday to travel to the US for a knee surgery.
During his stay in Switzerland, the Dalai Lama was given a traditional Tibetan welcome upon arrival at his Zurich hotel. Onlookers and guests looked on as the Dalai Lama walked through the hotel lobby. As he walked through the lobby of his Zurich hotel, the Dalai Lama greeted old friends.
Hundreds of Tibetans and devotees also gathered in the streets to pay their respects to the spiritual leader.
