Time and time again, our social media feeds are filled with videos of our culinary experiments. Some people are in awe, while others are left scratching their heads in disbelief. But in this whirlpool of online content, one recent recipe caught our attention like never before. Rainbow sourdough bread.
Biz Bellatini, a video blogger from Chicago, recently shared a video revealing the secret behind rainbow sourdough bread. During Biz’s demonstration, he recalled the time he bought rainbow bread at a local bakery and his daughter’s insatiable desire to eat more. However, faced with high costs beyond his budget, Biz decided to master the recipe at home. “This colorful bread reminds me of the rainbow bread Hannah made when she was little. Hannah regained her health – remember that?” she wrote in the caption.
In the instructional video, Biz guides viewers through the fun process of preparing rainbow sourdough bread. He divides the dough into quarters and adds various food colors. All of these are derived from fruit extracts and are free of eggs, nuts, gluten, peanuts and dairy products, ensuring recipes suitable for a variety of dietary needs. Biz kneads them all together to ensure the colors are thoroughly mixed. After wrapping the dough in layers, chill it in the freezer for 30 minutes before placing it on a baking tray. After making a few cuts, the dough is ready to bake in the oven.
The video ends with a peek at the final result, a stunning multicolored loaf of bread. Biz said that if she had her own cafe, her rainbow bread would be the star of grilled cheese sandwiches for kids.
