It took me a while, but I look forward to meditating every morning. Not because the act itself is necessarily fun (it’s not), but because if you stop for just a few days, you’ll see what benefits it has. For me, I feel a little calmer, have more time in my day, feel less reactive, and sleep better.
But we know that meditation isn’t for everyone. It can lead to further frustration, and it can also simply be difficult to incorporate into an already busy routine. This is why I highly recommend Superhuman if you want the benefits of meditation without the meditation part.
Superhuman is built around “activations,” which sound like guided meditations, but the point is that you engage with them more actively, and you can also listen to them while you’re active. You can choose one that is optimized for walking, doing housework, or falling asleep. This makes it perfect for people who are too busy to take time for uninterrupted meditation, or who find it difficult to sit quietly and meditate.
Prepare for activation
I know what you’re thinking. But what actually happens? teeth Activation? In Superhumans they take different forms. When you download the app for the first time, you’ll be asked a lot of questions about your goals, habits, and how much time you have left. The app provides a personalized dashboard of content tailored to the user.
So I currently have an activation on my Superhuman For You page called “Re-Energize While an Afternoon Calm.” The goal of this song is to get you going for the rest of the day and is meant to be listened to while you’re on a walk. It combines positive affirmations, mindfulness questions such as “Where do you feel strong?”, and helpful suggestions. But what I think has the biggest impact is calming music, calming guiding voices, and positive feelings.
Other activations include “Be Aligned with Your Future Self Before Socializing,” a calming pep talk, and “Be Your Next Shine,” an introspective journaling practice with many prompts. “Design” etc. Others are designed for when you’re resting or sitting, so if you just need an alternative meditation app, there are plenty here too.
True, the form and nature of activation may not suit everyone. Recommended for people who already have some basic knowledge of deep breathing and mindfulness. But if you’re looking for a way to level up and add some calm to your day, somewhere between a guided meditation and a self-help podcast, this is it.
I’m not going to lie, Superhuman is an expensive app at $25.99/£25.99/month or $159.99/£159.99/year. However, if you use it several times a day, it’s still a good deal. Luckily, it comes with a free trial. If you sign up for a free trial, don’t just sit there. Try out the app and decide if it’s really for you. If it’s available to you and you can afford it, sign up, align your costs with your health, and use it often. If not, there are other options that may help without costing as much. I’ll start with Balance. I think this is a meditation app unlike any other because it’s incredibly easy to use. Many guided practices.
