There’s plenty to do in the DC area in the coming days, and WTOP will be bringing you a weekly roundup of area events worth anticipating.

For those with a penchant for all things dark and spooky, the Post-Punk Flea Market will be taking place at Atlas Brew Works in Washington, D.C.’s Ivy City neighborhood on Saturday, May 25th, with music and shopping among vendors and local artists selling gothic and alternative goods, home décor, jewelry and more.
This will be the event’s fifth year, and this year it will feature about 50 vendors, food trucks and a live DJ, according to Bella La Blanc, owner, operator and curator of Fiction DC and founder of Post Punk Flea Market.
Admission is free and open to all ages, and street parking is available.

Queering Sound
From Thursday, May 23 through Sunday, May 26, the Queering Sound festival will take place at Rhizome DC, an arts and music space in Washington, DC’s Tacoma neighborhood. The arts event will feature visual art, spoken word, video/new media, and a variety of musical styles by LGBTQIA artists and advocates. Tickets vary, ranging from $15 to $20 per day, or $100 for a full festival pass.
Jump in, DC!
Celebrate the start of DC’s outdoor pool season by heading to Anacostia Pool in Southeast Washington, DC on Friday, May 24. Join Mayor Muriel Bowser for free food, music and giveaways. All 22 of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation’s outdoor pools will open on Saturday, May 25.
Pixar Pat
Pixar Putt, themed around Pixar movies like “Toy Story” and “The Incredibles,” is coming to The Wharf. Beginning May 25, enjoy open-air mini golf every day. After 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, the course is exclusive to golfers 18 and older. Tickets start at approximately $34.50 per adult and $32 per child, with a “family four-pack” costing $108.
Shake the dock
Starting May 29, The Wharf will host free live music performances by local artists every Wednesday. The first event will be next week, featuring R&B and soul band Pink Parish performing on the Transit Pier. The event is family-friendly, and dogs on leads are welcome.
Virginia
Rock the Block
In Fairfax, Virginia, the Rock the Block event kicks off this Friday, May 24th, at Old Town Square. The event runs the fourth Friday of every month through October and features live music, a beer garden and food vendors. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to sit on. No pets are allowed, except for service animals.
Guided Meditation with Cats
Chant “Om” this Friday, May 24th, at Mount Parnon Cat Cafe and Wine Bar. Cats will accompany you on this guided meditation. Tickets are $30 per person.
South County Pyramid Show
More than 100 students from kindergarten through grade 12 are displaying their work in the McGuire Woods Gallery at the Workhouse Art Center in Lorton, Virginia. The exhibition, which runs from May 25 to June 2, will feature work in a variety of mediums from students from six Fairfax, Virginia schools.
WABA Basic Skills Clinic
The Washington Area Bicycle Association is hosting a class for anyone wanting to practice basic bicycle handling skills. The class will be held on Sunday, May 26th in Arlington, Virginia, and tickets are $10 if you bring your own bike, or $50 if you need to rent a bike.

Riverdale Artisan Market
This artisan market takes place in Riverdale Park, Maryland, on the last Saturday of every month from May through October. The kickoff event on May 25th features a variety of local vendors selling art, jewelry, vintage clothing, food, and more.
Storytime with Bunmi Emenanjo
Maryland resident Bunmi Emenanjo will host a reading of her debut picture book, “I’ll See You in Ijebu,” on Sunday, May 26. Her book is about an 8-year-old girl who visits her mother’s family in Ijebu, Nigeria, to celebrate Eid al-Adha. The event will be held at People’s Book in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade
On Monday, May 27, the City of Rockville will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade at the Rockville Town Center.
