Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairman Dr Syed Darakshan Andrabi today chaired the Imam Khateeb meeting in Srinagar on Monday.
All Imams and Khateebs of the Waqf Board participated in the meeting, as well as Waqf Board members Mr. Syed Mohammad Hussain and Dr. Darakshan Andrabi.
The meeting reviewed Eid al-Fitr arrangements, held deliberations on the dissemination of Sufi ideas, and all religious preachers expressed their views on the responsibility of imams and khateebs in social awakening regarding the dangers of drug abuse. We aim for peace and harmony in society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Andrabi said it is the responsibility of preachers to convey messages related to moral and social values to the new generations of our society. “The spirit of inclusiveness and spirituality is our strength and we need to spread this Sufi ideology.
The teachings of our spiritual masters, Waris and Rishis need to be disseminated to the youth,” Dr Darakshan said. She said that this is a time of revival of Sufi ideology in J&K and religious preachers have a greater role to play. While sending Eid greetings to religious preachers, Dr. Andrabi wished them a successful Eid prayer in their respective areas.
