Chinese medicine is a systems-based medical paradigm that focuses on balance, harmony, and the physical and emotional connection to the rhythms of nature.
This is a paradigm that sees the body as a garden, with interconnected and interdependent systems all working together and all needing cultivation and nourishment to thrive.
Dr. Andrea Hansen of Wild Roots Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinic specializes in acupuncture (regulating the nervous and circulatory systems) and classic Chinese medicine.
She promotes diagnosis, treatment, and the practice of Cultivating Life as a way to prevent disease, promote healthy organ function, and reduce stress and anxiety.
Through 15 years of postgraduate theoretical and clinical training in the Tenso school, Andrea has progressed beyond basic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to the more complex classical theories of Han Dynasty texts and practice concepts.
“The application of these concepts to clinical practice makes Wild Roots therapy unique in Kamloops,” says Andrea.
“As a complementary medicine, Chinese medicine offers people something they are looking for but have never received before. My job is to diagnose and treat, but the joy of my work is the human experience, connecting with people, listening to their stories and encouraging them on their life’s journey.”
A Fellow of the Institute of Classical East Asian Medicine, Andrea began working in Chinese medicine at the Kamloops Acupuncture Clinic in 1998, studied in Vancouver and Portland, worked at the Vancouver clinic, and then returned to Kamloops and opened Wild Roots Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinic in 2007.
