A 30-something cosmetic injector reveals all the treatments she’s had to do to keep her skin looking youthful, and her favourite products.
The secret was shared in a recent video by Dawn Monteith, a nurse injectionist from California who has more than 86,500 followers on TikTok.
Monteith posted the video in response to another creator who asked women in their 30s what they do to look after their skin.
“Listen, I just turned 30 and I’ve been doing a ton of injections, skin care, skin treatments,” the injector began.
The first skin care regimen Monteith shared was one she’s been using since her teenage years: using SPF every day.
“If it were me I’d save my skin, baby,” she cried.
She also said she uses tretinoin, a cream that helps treat acne and reduce fine lines and age spots.
“As we get older, our skin changes,” she says. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but my skin isn’t as radiant as it used to be, and my skin texture isn’t the same, so I use retinol to combat that.”
Experts also noted that chronic use of vitamin A could lead to improved skin in the long run.
Monteith then shared all the cosmetic skin treatments she’s had, starting with microneedling, which she says she’s had multiple times and loves.
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure in which tiny holes are made in the top layer of skin with thin needles.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the treatment is believed to stimulate the skin to produce more collagen, resulting in a more youthful looking complexion.
The injector nurse also performs chemical peels and the PicoSure laser, a laser that helps regenerate the skin, which she attributes her glowing skin to.
“Now, let’s move on to the injections,” Monteith continued.
“I love Botox. I don’t care what anyone says. It smooths and tightens my skin,” she revealed.
“As I get older, my eyebrows tend to droop and my eyelids get heavier, so I try to lift my eyebrows a little.”
Monteith said she usually gets Botox injections, a toxin that relaxes muscles to prevent wrinkles, once a quarter.
She has also had filler injections.
“I’ve had some bags under my cheeks recently, and like I said, they’re just kind of sliding down due to gravity,” Monteith said, pointing to the area under his eyelids.
The TikTok creator has also had filler injections done on her lips.
“I’ve always had fuller lips, so I’m not looking for bigger lips, but I don’t want them to look wrinkly,” she admitted.
Finally, Monteith revealed that he underwent an injection called PRFM, in which platelets are concentrated from the blood and reinjected into specific areas that he wants to treat, such as under the eyes.
“It’s a 100% natural way to thicken, brighten and reduce the appearance of wrinkles under the eyes,” she said.
“I want to do anything I can to improve the lines and texture under my eyes,” the author continued, adding that she now hopes to “overcome” them.
In the comments section of her videos, people shared what they do to keep their skin looking youthful in their 30s.
“Stay out of the sun or wear a hat, drink lots of water, take vitamins and collagen, and have a clean, moisturizing skin care routine,” one person wrote.
Another shared, “Exercise and hydration are other options – I use a rosewater and plant ceramide moisturizer. I sometimes also use coconut oil around my eyes for extra hydration. I’m 35 and love this combo!”
“I’m 30 but my skin looks like I’m 22. No sunscreen, no alcohol, daily red light therapy, monthly facials, lots of water, minimal sugar intake…I use retinol once a week,” someone else typed.
