In 2024, the American Cancer Society will recognize two individuals for their significant and outstanding achievements. Dr. Madhavi Raghu, a radiologist and breast imaging specialist at Connecticut Breast Imaging, and Dr. Sheeva Ghofrany, an obstetrician-gynecologist at Coastal Obstetrics and Gynecology in Stamford. An ovarian cancer survivor and last year’s keynote speaker.

“Being selected as an ACS/WLWW recipient means a lot to me because it recognizes my deepest desire to engage and relate to others in a deeply human way. Because it means that,” Dr. Goffrany said. “It’s clear that what a woman needs most is a deeper understanding of her health and to work with her doctor to shape her future.”

“As a radiologist dedicated to making breast health accessible to all, this recognition from the American Cancer Society is truly humbling,” said Dr. Raghu. “I strongly believe that everyone, regardless of ethnicity or gender, has the right to prompt and comprehensive care. It’s about more than just detecting cancer. It’s about knowing and caring support. It’s about empowering patients. Together, we can close the gap in health care and wellness so no one has to face uncertainty alone.”

The event’s keynote speakers are Stephanie Szostak, French-American actress, author, and Give an Hour ambassador, and Gabrielle “Gabby” Bernstein, bestselling self-help author and spiritual coach. .

  • Szostak speaks to community groups about overcoming failure, being an outsider, and living authentically. Some of her notable projects include “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Iron Man 3,” “Schmuck’s Dinner” and ABC’s “A Million Little Things.”
  • Bernstein is new york times She is the best-selling author of May Cause Miracles, a 40-day guidebook for radical change and subtle changes for infinite happiness, and an international speaker who has spoken at Google, TEDxWomen, and more.

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), the key to prevention is early detection and a focus on a healthier lifestyle, such as maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise, avoiding smoking, and regular health checkups. It is said that it is a thing. The event’s tagline, “Choose You,” emphasizes this importance, and all attendees are given a “Choose You” checklist with reminders to follow their annual check-ups, appointments, and daily healthy habits. You will receive a postcard.

  • Maureen Clark – New Lovea strong supporter of ACS’s mission to reduce cancer rates and owner of Stamford-based Noble Salon.
  • kit shapiroa longtime supporter of ACS and community organizations, and owner of Westport-based boutique WEST.

As women, we often put the needs of others before our own because we’re so busy and juggling our daily responsibilities. To recognize Women’s Health Month in May, choose yourself. What better way than to remind them of the importance?”
