If you’re not successful, the best thing to do is try again. New Houston Texans receiver Stefon Diggs might take that to heart the next time he tries Pilates.
Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowl selection and former All-Pro target for the Buffalo Bills, avoided serious injury after a video surfaced of him attempting to do several reps on a Pilates machine at a gym. Diggs lost his balance while performing reps with former teammate Leonard Fournette and ultimately fell.
Realizing nothing was wrong, he laughed about the incident in the video while Fournette asked someone off-screen to “please tell me you were recording.” And yes, that’s what happened — the video has now gone viral, with over 25,000 views.
Houston needs Diggs to avoid injury because he has just one year on his contract after the franchise voided the remaining three years on his original deal with Buffalo. Though it would mean giving up a future second-round pick, it’s enough of an investment for the Texans, who won the AFC South with Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud, to show they’re committed.
Stroud has two quality receivers in Nico Collins and Tank Dell and a reliable tight end in Dalton Schultz, but the veteran presence of Diggs provides stability and consistency, as he recorded six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Vikings and Bills.
Even though his numbers have dipped in Houston, Diggs has consistently ranked atop the NFL’s receiving rankings over the past four years. During his time with the Bills, he recorded an NFL-leading 445 receptions and totaled 37 touchdowns.
Diggs, who turns 31 this season, has already built strong rapport with Collins, Dell and Stroud during OTAs and is confident each pass-catching player will “motivate each other.”
That’s DeMeco Ryans’ vision for the Texans’ offense when the team resumes practice on July 18, but Pilates may not be in anyone’s plans.
