Sadhguru Sannidhi Bengaluru celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga with a grand programme in the presence of Adiyogi on June 21. Air Commodore SB Arunkumar VSM, Deputy Director General, Karnataka and Goa NCC Division and popular Kannada actor and model Srinidhi Shetty were the special guests at the event. Around 1,000 NCC cadets from five Karnataka battalions from 20 colleges in Chikkaballapura, 200 soldiers from the Madras Engineers (MEG) of the Indian Army, 120 soldiers and two officers from the Supplementary Training Centre (STC) and Border Security Force (BSF) participated in a yoga session conducted by Isha Hatha Yoga instructors in the presence of Adiyogi.
Meanwhile, on social media X, Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru said, “Yoga is a science and an art that can, if you wish, blossom your individual essence to its ultimate extent and also create a conscious planet. Yoga day is significant as it happens to be the night of full moon i.e. Purnima. Hence, for those who perform sadhana on this day, this day will be significant. Summer solstice and Purnima come together in 18-19 years due to the lunar and planetary association. So, let us celebrate this day by performing sadhana, meditation and blossoming as great beings.” Speaking at an event at Sadhguru Sannidhi, Air Commodore SB Arunkumar urged all citizens, especially future citizens, to embrace yoga as a lifestyle choice. He said yoga is not just a “physical exercise” but a “holistic practice” that rejuvenates the body and mind. He said, “This is a reminder that we are all connected across the globe and through yoga, we can transcend barriers and come together as one global family, as we all are here today.” “Yoga develops discipline and concentration,” he said, and urged the students and NCC cadets gathered there to practice yoga as it would help “in all your activities”.
Popular Kannada actor Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame said, “We all know what is right and what is wrong, what we should and shouldn’t do. It’s just a matter of behavior.” She said that with an overly polluted environment, it is essential for people to look inward to enhance their health and well-being. “The air we breathe, the soil we walk on, the water we drink, everything is degraded.” She urged the audience to practice yoga regularly “to feel joy from within.”
