Houston was gifted with a lot of potential when the Texans acquired struggling Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade. Needing a fresh start, Diggs came to the Texans on his own, hoping the addition of promising star quarterback CJ Stroud would improve his performance. Houston saw an opportunity here, too. Stroud is a dynamic player who would fit well with the Texans’ existing receiver corps and help Stroud take the next logical step in his development.
This is a win-win scenario. But there are concerns. Diggs has been known to be a tricky player, and his stats have fallen and he’s starting to show signs of wear and tear. And that’s not all. Either way, Diggs is likely a one-year rental. If he plays well, he’ll likely be out of Texas, and if not, he’ll demand a high price tag to match his level of performance.
The concerns are many. But one that the Texans didn’t consider was the Pilates failure that nearly ended Diggs’ season. Diggs had been participating in Pilates training with other players. This type of exercise is worth participating in for any player, as it is designed to build muscle, increase flexibility and improve joint alignment. For football players, it’s especially great, as it is designed to reduce stress on the joints.
That is, assuming you can stand it. In a video that’s gone viral online, Diggs fell off a Pilates machine today, sending the room into laughter. Thankfully, no one involved, including Diggs, needed stitches.

While the video is hilarious, it also points out how easy it is to get injured during training, with several Texans players having missed significant time over the past few years due to injuries sustained during training and conditioning.
These are things athletes have to do to stay in tip-top condition, but they come with risks that we don’t respect enough. Luckily, Diggs seems fine after the accident, but one mistake and the Texans could lose Diggs for an extended period of time. So let’s be thankful he’s not seriously injured.
Except for my bruised ego.
