As the summer sun shines down on us, it is important to pay close attention to our health. The ancient Indian holistic health science known as Ayurveda contains important insights that can help you stay young and healthy all summer long. By incorporating some simple Ayurvedic suggestions into your daily routine, you can stay healthy and fight the heat. Here are some easy Ayurvedic routines you can add to give you energy and vibrancy this summer.

Wake up with the sun and spend 10 minutes outside
According to Ayurveda, to maintain balance and harmony within the body, it is important to synchronize your daily life with the natural rhythms of the day. When the sun rises, it’s the perfect time to wake up and face the day. Let him spend at least 10 minutes outside, letting his skin absorb the gentle morning sunlight. Exposure to this environment adjusts your circadian rhythm, boosting your mood and energy levels throughout the day. Take a leisurely walk, do some yoga, or just sit and enjoy the peaceful early morning atmosphere.

exercise first thing in the morning
Summer mornings are perfect for getting some exercise as the weather is cool and the air is fresh. Exercising first thing in the morning not only keeps you healthy, but also kick-starts your metabolism and puts you in a positive mood for the rest of the day. According to Ayurveda, morning exercise increases circulation, improves digestion, and increases overall vitality. Choose an activity you like, such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, or yoga, and make it a regular morning routine.

Drink warm water, lemon and honey
Staying hydrated is important during the summer months, and Ayurveda recommends starting your day with a soothing hot bath of lemon and honey. This concoction helps detoxify the body, aids digestion, and boosts the immune system. Warm water stimulates the digestive fire, and lemon provides a refreshing dose of vitamin C and antioxidants. Adding honey not only adds flavor, but it also has antibacterial properties that keep your throat and digestive tract healthy.

Add fresh herbs and spices to your meals
Adding fresh herbs and spices to your meals is an effective way to enhance both flavor and health benefits. During the summer, Ayurveda recommends using cooling herbs and spices to balance the heat and pitta dosha (which controls heat, metabolism, and change). Mint, coriander, cilantro, fennel, and cumin are great choices to help cool the body and aid digestion. Add it to salads, soups, smoothies, and main dishes to not only add new flavor to your taste buds but also support your health.
