Stanley Tucci has many talents. He lights up movie screens, writes moving memoirs, and It makes us really hungry. Actor, author, avid home cook and taste tour guide (we’re eagerly awaiting the release of his new documentary series) Tucci: the heart of Italy!) has already convinced us to eat pasta for breakfast and brought back the once-defunct Pastina.

The latest thing Tucci taught us: You don’t need a lot of time or a large refrigerator or pantry to make a restaurant-worthy steak dinner.

The story behind Stanley Tucci’s steak recipe

Tucci recently shared his recipe for oreganato steak on social media, but the dish itself is nothing new to the entertainer, whose family has roots in the southern Italian region of Calabria.

“I’m going to make steak oreganato, which is a dish that I’m used to,” Tucci begins.

This dish meant so much to Tucci that he was actually the first to share it with the world. tucci cookbookdebuted in 2012.

“I wanted to get all these recipes down on paper,” Tucci said. people at that time. “They have had a huge impact on my life and are one of the reasons I am who I am…They are full of recipes that are really easy and great to make every night.”

Tucci told Williams-Sonoma that his nonna gave him this easy stovetop steak recipe. She often served this as part of a kaiseki meal.

“We don’t serve meat ‘American-style’ with vegetables and potatoes. Instead, start with pasta and eat meat with simply cooked vegetables. ” says Tucci. “I finish with a green salad, nuts and fresh fruit. This has been a long tradition in my family, and one that I continue to maintain because changing the pace of your meals this way makes you feel less full.” Masu.”

Vegetarian pasta recipes like vegetable primavera and farfalle with mushrooms and spinach will start your menu fresh and hearty. After that, focus on the main event.

How to make Stanley Tucci’s 3 Ingredient Steak Recipe

“My parents used skirt steak,” Tucci said, but this time he’s using ribeye (about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds), pounded to about 1/2 inch thickness.

To begin the heirloom recipe, heat 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Once the butter is foaming, add the steak and fry in the pan until browned on one side. It takes approximately 3 minutes. Flip the steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned on the other side, about 3 minutes more.

Transfer the steak to a warm platter and add 1/2 cup of dry red wine to the same hot skillet (Barbera, Nero d’Avola, or Primitivo work well). Delizioso) and 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano. Stir to scrape up any leftover drippings or steak pieces from the pan, and simmer for about 1 minute.

The cooking time is less than 10 minutes and the steak is firm. Cut the meat into 6 equal pieces, spoon over the wine sauce and serve.

What to Serve with Stanley Tucci’s Steak Recipe

Tucci also recommends steamed vegetables. He uses chard, but wintergreen and broccolini tarts and savory collard greens also make delicious accompaniments. And to soak up every last drop of that sauce, I’m going to pair it with the rest of my rosemary and Parmesan bread, garlic butter, or garlic and herb swirl bread, and of course a glass of red wine. And to top things off in traditional Tucci family style, don’t forget the salad, nuts, and fruit.

Oreganato steak is a staple in many Italian-connected households, and fans admitted this in the comments of the Instagram video. “My Sicilian grandfather used to make this all the time! Great memories. ❤️”

Whether you’re Italian or not, you can share this comforting menu with your family this week and start making your own memories. Check out Stanley Tucci’s Steak Oreganato recipe here. Fans will also appreciate the Steak with Charred Tomato, Garlic Steak and Potato Fries, and Flank Steak Tagliata with Arugula and Parmesan.
