Summer month
Dear Patheos, Summer is on the horizon. It’s June in the blink of an eye and half way through 2024. I am still reviewing your feedback on my last post and how God spoke to you through it. Thank you! You asked questions in the post and I will answer them in the next post. Stay tuned! I appreciate your feedback. It’s one of the many things that makes this community unique.
Share Your Faith
In this post, we’ll explore how to share our faith in Christ in the workplace (thanks to the Patheos team for your guidance). Knowing how to share our faith in God in times when it is antithetical to the culture of the day is one of the skills we must hone as followers of Christ. This is not about what people say about faith in God in the workplace; this is about how a life rooted in God shows up in the workplace.
Serve the Lord
First Romans 12:11“Do not lose your zeal, but keep your zeal in the spirit to serve the Lord.” Believers in Christ are the most diligent employees in any workplace. This is because they know that no matter what they do or where they are, they are serving the Lord who sees and knows everything. They are rooted in this truth and keep the flame of their faith burning.
10 ways to be safe
It sounds simple enough, but in today’s combative culture, knowing how to share your faith in Christ at work without getting called into HR is a top priority. Let’s look at 10 safe ways to share your faith in the workplace.
“You are not a gossip bro at work” – (A fool is one who hides hatred and spreads slander with lying lips. Proverbs 10:18).
“You are one who does not listen to rumors, and do not accept such rumors” – (Blessed is the man who does not follow the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scorners. Psalm 1:1)
“You understand and practice sympathy” – (Finally, I want all of you to have unity of mind, compassion, brotherly love, kind hearts, and humble minds, (1 Peter 3:8).
“Love all men, as God has commanded you” – (And above all this put on love, which holds all things together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14)
“You see every man in the image of God” – (So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27).
“Look for opportunities to bless others” – (Those who bless others will be abundantly blessed, and those who help others will be helped, (Proverbs 11:25).
“You are a source of encouragement” – (For the Lord gives wisdom, and out of his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6)
“Do what is best for all” (each one considers not only his own interests but also those of others. Philippians 2:4)
“Forgive everyone” – (Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32)
“You understand and live with healthy boundaries.” – (First and foremost, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23).
Partner with God
These 10 ways are just the foundation for allowing God to work in people’s hearts. Follow them with a prayer of salvation for all who do not yet know Christ as their Savior and Friend. Here are some examples of ways to pray for people to know Christ: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the job you have given me and the people I work with. They have blessed me, and I ask that you bless them in return. Bless their families and friends with your goodness, grace and love. Help them to know you and feel your presence in their lives. Grant them the satisfaction that comes from knowing you and walking with you. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Living for God is a noble calling. Trust that as you continue to live and pray for Him, He will work His saving heart. Every person’s eternal destiny matters, and believers in Christ are called to cooperate with God for the salvation of others.
