West Volusia’s First Unitarian Universalist Church in DeLand to listen to Dr. kelly smith Explore and identify the complex theme of femininity. Her fascinating talk is titled “The ‘F’ Word Debate: An Epistemological Exploration of Femininity.”
Dr. Smith is the Stetson Professor of Gender Studies, speaker, and community advocate. She is personally and professionally dedicated to addressing social equity issues of gender, race, and sexuality within the systemic and structural framework of contemporary American society.

Pastor Merriam focuses on the unique role of maternal guidance in shaping people’s character. We must firmly establish this teaching as our foundation. Merriam reminds us that those in such parental roles have clear guidance within this particular text.

a Drive-through food distribution The event will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 9am. Volunteer transportation coordinators will direct vehicles onto West Pennsylvania Avenue to pick up food provided by Farm Share on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The box has enough fresh and nonperishable food for her family of four for a week. There are no identification or eligibility requirements, and this mission is open to all in need.

pastor carlos perez On Sunday, May 12th, we begin a five-part sermon series on “The Epistle of James.” First Christian Church of DeLand (Disciples of Christ).
There are three men named Jacob in the New Testament. He is the son of Zebedee and a disciple and apostle of Christ. He was the son of Alpheus and was called the “inferior” and the apostle. and a half-brother of Jesus who became a leader of the church in Jerusalem, traditionally called “the righteous” and probably the author of the Epistle of James.
It is generally accepted that the Epistle of James was written to people living outside Palestine, who were suffering from poverty and may have lacked the desire to love others. James wants to restore them to a state where they can understand the message of Jesus.
Since it’s Mother’s Day, mothers and daughters will be honored during the service.
