Excitement is spreading as SHOW Baldwin Inc. (Special Humans Outreach & Wellness) emerges as a beacon of hope and support for people with special needs in Baldwin County.
Founded by a group of mothers with children with special needs, this newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has a mission to promote inclusion and empowerment within the community.
At the heart of SHOW Baldwin Inc. is a commitment to providing essential resources and heartwarming experiences to individuals with special needs, regardless of age or economic situation. With a multi-faceted approach, the organization aims to address both the practical need for medical equipment and the equally important need for social connection and inclusion.
One of the primary focuses of SHOW Baldwin Inc. is providing grants for durable medical equipment to children and adults with special needs.
“Our mission is to provide grants to children and adults with special needs to purchase durable medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and communication devices,” the organization said on its Facebook page.
Recognizing the financial burden that such equipment places on families, the organization aims to ease this burden and ensure all members of the community have access to the tools they need to improve their quality of life.
“…Our grants will help close the gap and ensure everyone in our community has access to the tools they need to thrive,” the post reads.
Additionally, SHOW Baldwin Inc. is committed to increasing social opportunities for people with special needs through various engaging events such as proms, parties, field days, Easter egg hunts, etc. These gatherings not only provide moments of joy and excitement but also serve as a platform to foster meaningful connections and combat feelings of loneliness.
A key aspect of SHOW Baldwin Inc.’s fundraising model is its commitment to transparency and impact: 50% of donations are allocated directly to grants for medical equipment and treatments, and the other 50% goes towards hosting social events, so donors can be sure their donation is making a tangible difference in the lives of people with special needs.
Founding board members include Stephanie Brewster, who will serve as chair, Thea Gates, who will manage fiscal accountability and public relations, Lauren Hardy, who will handle the duties of treasurer and secretary, Heather Hestand, who will serve as vice president and public relations, Crawford McWilliams, who will serve as general counsel, and Harold Caraway III, who will serve as general counsel.
