Wednesday night, I, along with nine others, immersed myself in an innovative sound bath experience at Wellspring Health Center in Eden Prairie.
Founded in 2008, Wellspring Health Center provides a holistic approach to back, muscle, and joint pain, aiming to minimize dependence on pain medications and surgery whenever possible.
As I stood inside this integrative medicine and physical therapy clinic, I was greeted by the soothing sounds of singing bowls, gongs, and harmoniums, promising a journey of relaxation and rejuvenation.
The session, led by former recording artist turned wellness advocate Kristen Wertenberger, began with a gentle introduction to the practice of sound baths.
As I sat down on a cozy mat adorned with the softest of blankets, Kristen expertly led us on an hour-long exploration of sounds and sensations. The journey ebbed and flowed, shifting from the resonant sound that enveloped the room to the rhythmic sound of ocean waves, evoking a sense of tranquility and calm.

As the hour drew to a close, Kristen surprised us with her soulful guitar and solo singing, adding a soothing melody to the immersive experience. Although I occasionally experienced minor discomfort from lying down for long periods of time and getting used to the unfamiliar sensations of the sound bath, I found solace in the gentle embrace of sound. These temporary discomforts served as a temporary contrast to the overall feeling of relaxation and rejuvenation that the sound bath provided.

The atmosphere at Wellspring Health Center provided the perfect backdrop for this harmonious journey. The spacious and clean environment provided a cozy atmosphere and provided us with a sanctuary for relaxation and reflection. Kristen’s dedication to creating a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere was evident, allowing participants of all levels to feel welcomed and supported throughout the experience. Backed by research that highlights the therapeutic benefits of sound therapy, Kristen envisions a future where sound baths become an integral part of a holistic wellness routine.
With the healing vibrations still lingering, I left Wellspring Health Center feeling energized, empowered, and motivated to cultivate a deeper connection with myself and the world around me.
