JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Yoga enthusiasts rolled out their mats for the first time at Solna Sage Wellness and Yoga Studio, followed by a grand opening over the weekend, according to a release from co-owner Ally McElroy. A celebration was said to have been held.
Soluna Sage will offer yoga and meditation classes through a combination of in-person and asynchronous classes, according to the release.
Allie and Andrew McElroy own Soluna Sage Wellness and Yoga Studio. The McElroys believe in the power of human connection and warmly invite the community to share their experiences.
Grand opening celebrations began Friday, and News Channel 11 spoke with the McElroys.
“We’re right next to the new Johnson City Visitor Center. They’re building a greenway that goes all the way to ETSU. So there’s definitely a strong side to why we wanted a location in this area. So we’re excited to bridge the gap between downtown and ETSU’s campus,” Allie McElroy told News Channel 11.
“After years of dreaming, practicing, and traveling, we are thrilled to bring Solna Sage to life in Johnson City’s historic building. Our goal is It’s simple: creating a space where everyone feels welcome, supported and inspired to explore their own health journey,” she said.
The studio will continue its weekend celebrations on Saturday and Sunday. According to the release, the itinerary for both days is as follows:

Allie McElroy said her idea started online, where she spent three years building an audience for her classes. From there, her gas station-turned-yoga studio in California inspired her to create a physical location for successful classes.
“We started dreaming and came up with Soluna Sage Wellness and Yoga Studio, a unique online and in-person model that allows us to bring local yoga to you no matter where you practice in the world,” said Ally McElroy . “One of the lessons we’ve learned during the coronavirus pandemic is that many people, no matter where they live for work or travel, long for the small hometown feel that comes with living in a city like Johnson City. It means there is.”
