After weeks of entertainment, challenges and pitches, Sir Alan Sugar will choose the winner in Thursday night’s The Apprentice final, which will pit pie-maker Phil Turner against Pilates guru Rachel Woolford.
Tomorrow night’s The Apprentice final is being touted by Lord Sugar as ‘Pi vs Pilates’, with one of the candidates set to win a £250,000 investment from him, but both men are on the rocks in the business showdown. Even though it was a rough start.
The BBC1 episode pits pie maker Phil Turner against Rachel Woolford, who wants to open her own boutique gym in the north of England.
In the final, the two must come up with a logo and digital advertisement before pitching it to business experts in their respective fields. However, with the help of the fired candidate, both of them initially struggle towards perfection. Phil’s new pie logo doesn’t impress Lord Sugar advisor Karen Brady.
Karen said: “This product has a history of 90 years, but the logo doesn’t really capture the dignity, tradition and quality that Phil wanted to convey. It just looks a bit cartoonish to me.” .
On the other team, Rachel’s studio name and appearance are not liked by advisor and former winner Tim Campbell. Tim said: “Rachel is trying to create a brand that stands out in a competitive market space. But at the moment it’s a relatively standard blue logo on a box. It’s a little bland, a little boring, a little basic. is” . ”
Thankfully, they improve through the challenges and ultimately both excel on the pitch, giving Lord Sugar a lot to think about. Before making his decision, Lord Sugar said: “Only one of you can accept my £250,000 investment and this is your last chance to convince me that it should be you.”
he added with a smile. “You see, my decision is Pi or Pilates. Do I make people healthier or do I make people fatter? Do I choose a gym or do I make people fat? That’s what it comes down to. think.”
Both finalists have grand plans for how they will use Lord Sugar’s investment. Phil, 37, from Bognor Regis, said: “My family, we are the third generation of pie makers. I took over the family business in 2010 and have since developed the business and now have five shops. “I’m ready,” he said.
“Lord Sugar said to me, “I know your business looks okay, but you need to prove to me that you can scale this up, become a big national brand, and obviously grow online.” I did.”[selling] The market is ready for that. ”
Rachel, from Leeds, said: ‘What we have to prove to Lord Sugar is why we are different in this saturated market.Essentially, this market is like a social fitness hangout. It’s about making exercise fun, not just the mundane things you have to do.” .
“We play great music, different colored lights, juices and smoothies. It’s a lifestyle brand and something to do all year round.”
The Apprentice final will be broadcast tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer, followed by You’re Hired at 10pm.
