During the event, dedicated coaches Mr. Susanta Fernando and Mr. RWMAHD Rajakaruna were also recognised for their valuable guidance and support in the development of the players.
Siddhalepa’s sponsorship as the Official Pain Relief Partner is more than a one-off gesture, it is a sincere recognition of the importance of athletes’ health. Hetigoda Industries provides Siddhalepa Ayurvedic products and traditional Ayurvedic treatments at its Siddhalepa clinics to ensure that athletes are in top physical condition for their upcoming competitions.
Siddhalepa Pain Relief Spray has proudly supported the Sri Lankan Athletics Team at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and again in 2024, and over the years has become widely known as a must-have among Sri Lankan national sports team members. Researched and validated by our in-house scientists using a decoction of citronella and cinnamon leaves, the spray is one of the purest forms of convenient, fast-acting pain relief.
The spray is an evolution of the Siddhalepa Balm, a herbal formula based on the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia recorded over 4000 years ago. The balm was researched and developed 60 years ago and introduced to traditional Ayurvedic physicians for clinical trials in 1932. It was introduced to the market in 1934 and 90 years after its launch, it has become one of the most popular household products in Sri Lanka.
Ashoka Hetigoda, Chairman, Hetigoda Industries (Private) Ltd said, “We are always concerned about the health of people and are delighted to see talented Sri Lankan athletes competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Considering the stringent demands of elite athletes, we believe Ayurveda’s pure and natural approach to health is perfectly aligned with their needs. Hence, this is an important moment for us to extend our support to Sri Lankan sporting excellence and our athletes who have trained tirelessly. We believe they have the capacity to make Sri Lanka proud and wish all the best of luck to all the athletes representing the country at the Olympics.”

Speaking to the athletes before they departed for the Opening Ceremony in Paris, it was clear how thorough and disciplined they are on a daily basis when it comes to diet, exercise, lifestyle and routine to avoid illness or ill-health. This dedication echoes the sentiments expressed by the President in his congratulatory speech, who highlighted that the 6,000-year-old practice of Hera Wedakama also emphasises the importance of regular meals and balanced nutrition to prevent potential health problems and maintain optimal health.
For example, Asamoda gum, a herbal preparation made based on ancient Ayurvedic prescriptions and commonly consumed at home, is a preservative-free remedy that provides fast relief from stomach pain, intestinal disorders, pain due to acidity and flatulence, and also acts as a natural digestive stimulant.
Similarly, Sreepara, another preparation frequently used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine, contains only the dried fruits of Aral, Bhur and Neri. This chemical-free combination has been used for thousands of years to promote health, immunity and longevity by ensuring proper digestion and improving metabolism, absorption and excretion. It is a certified herbal product suitable for inclusion in the daily life of people of all ages and walks of life, helping to maintain good health and boost the body’s immunity against diseases.
Therefore, Hettigoda Industries, with a 90-year heritage in Ayurveda, sees it as its responsibility to support Sri Lankan athletes towards greater health and wellbeing.
Dilhani Lekamuge, Sri Lanka’s highest-ranked athlete in the Paris Olympic rankings, is a strong medal contender in the women’s javelin, while Tulsi Karunaratna is the 19th Asian Games gold medallist in the 800 metres and Aruna Darshana is the first Sri Lankan man to qualify for the Olympic 400 metres in 20 years.
As the entire nation yearns to witness the global triumphs of Sri Lankan athletes and inspire future generations, Hetigoda Industries is at the forefront as a truly renowned Sri Lankan organisation in promoting the incorporation of Hera Ayurvedic practices in the everyday lives of its athletes. The company believes that by empowering its champions, it can inspire the entire nation.
