Go Rainey: Senior Services’ intergenerational center for arts and wellness is making people of all ages smile
A big influence here at Triad is our state-of-the-art arts center. Chief Meteorologist Laney Pope takes us to the Intergenerational Services Center for Arts and Health here in Winston-Salem. There is no other program like this. Nowhere else can art and wellness come together like this building. And everyone feels “Wow!” in the same building. This is amazing. From the moment you walk inside and walk out onto the main street, you can tell this place is one of a kind. This Community His space is a lineage of senior services, built on the belief that how we care for our elders defines us and that relationships across generations enable us to thrive. Masu. As you know, this is not about senior services. Become a landlord to many great nonprofit organizations. It is important that exactly 81 organizations work together and share this new home. In this neighborhood environment, young and old coexist. Like the Family Services Head Start program, it is located right next door to a new adult day care center with shared play areas and shared activities. And yesterday, the older students actually came and had their nails painted. So the kids aren’t embarrassed just to see them interacting with each other, and the elders aren’t embarrassed just to see it come together. It’s really amazing. La la la la la la la la la la. Here we see the magic every day as a 2-year-old and her 92-year-old come together and their minds begin to converse with each other. That’s really great. We welcome all ages and are open to the entire community. You can always stop by and visit the cafe. Sit here on Main Street and meet your friends. Well, you can play card games, read books, whatever you want to do. We hope this will be a gathering place for the community. You can also sign up for a schedule of classes and activities focused on art and wellness. For me, this is a quick lesson on pickleball for today. Okay, Lane, today I’ve got a paddle for you to play pickleball with. How does it sound? Okay. Sounds good. And you are the coach. Danny, try being a coach. I. So she’s going to come to you. You tried to take it out on Jen. And the important thing is to have everyone do a good job. Oh, that’s very nice. oh. That’s awful. This is definitely a place to self-indulge in other meaningful activities, such as taking an art class, trying something you’ve never done before, volunteering, or reading aloud to your children. A place for people who are looking to fulfill their life. And it works. I mean, it works, especially in this building. it works. It definitely works. A list of all the groups, non-profits we work with in this space can be found at Generations Center Dot Org. Let me tell you, this is a really cool concept. Here, progress is being made in bringing together the young, the old, and everything in between. Everyone can benefit in some way from being close to each other, right? You can tell by the smiles that things are going well. that’s right. The building has so much energy and I love it, I love it too. It was just an introduction. Now you have an overview. But over the next three weeks, we’re taking you inside art and health. So we’re going to do some healthy things. I also plan to do something artistic. So you’ll see a really healthy version of me with everyone. That would be cool, I mean it would be fun. That’s really great. What a wonderful concept! As I said before, I remembered that I wanted to go to one of those places where you can go to a city and do everything in one place. Well, what can I say, this is my first time running a loom. I’ve never done anything like that. You can see how it is woven by machine. Yeah. Please wait until it appears. Devonte, you thought I was better at pickleball? Wait until you see that loom. That is correct. I am TH
