

Seniors in Franklin County have something to celebrate this summer as the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is back, offering vouchers to purchase fresh, locally grown produce. Beginning June 3, 2024, eligible seniors can pick up their vouchers at the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging office, 600 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg.
Eligibility and Benefits
To be eligible for the SFMNP, participants must be Franklin County residents age 60 or older. Income guidelines for eligibility are set at an annual income of $27,861 for one-person households and $37,814 for two-person households. Each eligible senior will receive five $10 vouchers for a total of $50 to be used toward the purchase of a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Approved Purchases
The voucher can be used to buy fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables and herbs from licensed farmers, but cannot be used on citrus or tropical fruits, processed foods, jams, honey, nuts, cider, baked goods or jack-o-lanterns.
How to apply
Seniors interested in applying for an SFMNP voucher can apply by visiting the Franklin County Department of Aging offices between June 3 and Sept. 30. Voucher applications can also be received by mail by contacting the department.
