Bobbi Brown is the first to admit that her approach to wellness isn’t picture-perfect, but its generous and truly achievable nature makes it all the more admirable. “I try to make the best choices I can, but I don’t beat myself up when I do something that doesn’t feel good,” says the makeup artist, entrepreneur, and beauty founder. he freely admits. “If I wake up in the morning and feel irritated or swollen or tired, I stop and say, ‘Okay, what did I do yesterday? Maybe I didn’t drink enough water?’ I think it’s called intuitive health: listening to yourself.”

Even those who aren’t familiar with Brown’s established career may be familiar with the success of her first self-titled beauty line and latest makeup venture. Jones Road was named after the street near her Hamptons retreat. As a make-up artist, Jones has worked with the likes of Yasmin Goli and Cindy Crawford, and she has written many acclaimed guides in the field of make-up application. So it’s no surprise that her personal health journey is shaped around her busy, career-centered lifestyle.

“I think it’s important to recognize that everyone is unique and what works for one person may not work for everyone,” Brown says. “Everyone is on a different path when it comes to health and wellness. Some people think, ‘I can’t drink,’ but I love cocktails. But instead of something sweet, I prefer vodka. I drink tequila on the rocks, with lots of fresh lemon or lime juice.”

Here, the 66-year-old makeup artist takes us through her tried and true health routine, from infrared saunas and breathing techniques to weight training and expert self-care advice she’s picked up throughout her career.

On the duality of her morning routine…

“I usually wake up to the sound of my dog barking, get up, go straight to the kitchen, and pour two glasses of water. I put lemon and sea salt in it, or I take some vegetable powder. While I’m drinking it, I also add a tablespoon of water. I also make a double espresso with half a glass of milk.

“My morning routine is something I’ve tried to break. I usually go back to bed with my coffee, open my iPad and read the newspaper. Sometimes I fall down the rabbit hole on Instagram. .I do that, I scare myself stupid and then I jump up and do a workout before I do anything.”

On the key to consistent exercise…

“When I’m walking, I put on sunscreen, put on my headphones, and head outside. I also use Miracle Balm every day. I start with the shade Tone and then apply it all over my face as a tint.”

“Normally I call someone while I’m walking. That’s the time of day when I can speak most calmly and don’t get rushed or distracted. I usually call someone in the UK or wake up and I have some girlfriends that I know I have.” [at 7am] And I was able to talk. That way, you won’t get any work calls. I usually walk for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

“Weight training is one of the things that has helped my health the most. I’ve started and stopped several times in my life, but I’ve noticed a huge difference when I’ve been doing it. My back muscles… I can stretch out and sit and I feel better. My clothes look better. I love working with trainers because I have places to go. I do it in the morning. Do it faithfully at 8 or 9 o’clock and you’re ready for the rest of the day. I do it three times a year a week.”

As for the night routine she can achieve…

“I wear Invisalign, so I have to be very careful about brushing my teeth. I use the Jones Road Cleansing Stick to wash my face, which is really lazy girl prep for bed. All you have to do is put it on, pour some water on it, and drink it. That’s my product development time, and I think I’ve found a winner.

“At 8 or 9 p.m., I drink a calming cup of tea. I love Celestial Seasonings peppermint tea. That’s my favorite.”

On her whole food, high protein diet…

“I’m a person who has tried every diet ethos. I truly believe that what you eat is more important than what you wear on your face. What works for me – no extremes “I always want what I can’t get because it doesn’t work.” “I make really good choices. Most of the time it’s food that I grow in the ground and the best I can find.” It means I’m really focusing on whole grains. I’m eating slower and being more mindful.”

“I truly believe that what you eat is more important than what you put on your face.”

“I’m also adding more protein to my diet. A nutritionist I met recently said she thought I might not be getting enough protein, so she added protein with protein powder. .For my afternoon snack, I put two spoons and a little cream in a cup of hot water because I’m too lazy to make a smoothie. I basically make hot cocoa.”

About managing mindfulness through breathing techniques…

“Did you realize I haven’t mentioned meditation yet?! Meditation is so hard, especially when you have a busy life with business and other things. “I’ve found that what works for me is incorporating breathing exercises. Even if I can see myself starting to wake up a little during a meeting, I can just breathe. Everything calms down, says an American DJ named Durand.” It’s like a mini-massage where you just take 60 seconds to breathe.

“I split my time between several different homes, one of which has an infrared sauna. I think saunas are great for relaxing. I also soak in the hot tub as much as possible. I’m also seeing a new chiropractor.” He’s a kinesiologist who teaches you to use visual techniques when you’re feeling stressed or anxious. ”
