Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Oleksiy Kuleba, together with First Lady Olena Zelenska, chaired a meeting on school nutrition reform, which was attended by representatives of 21 regional military administrations, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovy and head of the school nutrition reform team Orest Stepanyak.
At the meeting, participants discussed the progress of the implementation of regional programs towards the realization of the School Nutrition Reform Strategy by 2027. These regional programs were developed based on the results of 19 regional forums held by the School Nutrition Reform Team, taking into account regional characteristics.
“We often emphasize that these reforms are part of the reconstruction of Ukraine. This is not an exaggeration. After all, quality education and everything around it, including the ability to feed children, are the conditions for families and children to return home. Where there are people, communities live. So a lot of it starts with school lunches. If we feed children properly now, they will grow up to be healthy people. If we make quality reforms now, in a few years we will have a qualitatively better country,” the First Lady said.
She encouraged representatives of the region to effectively utilize all reform opportunities and resources, from international to national.
Orest Stepaniak analyzed the regional program and presented a roadmap for its implementation.
Oksen Risovi reported on state subsidies being used to set up canteens in secondary schools and “culinary centres” (places where kitchen staff at educational institutions can improve their skills).
