TIRUPATI: Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has emphasized the role of Sanskrit as a sacred language and a divine conduit to spirituality. Speaking at the third convocation of the National Sanskrit University in Tirupati, he emphasized the university’s important position as a cultural anchor of the modern world.
Mr. Dhankar emphasized the importance of institutions like the National Sanskrit University in bridging the gap between the rich tradition of Sanskrit and contemporary academic needs. He called for innovative curriculum development and interdisciplinary research to ensure the preservation of Sanskrit for future generations. He encouraged students to view Sanskrit education as a journey of self-discovery and encouraged them to become ambassadors of the tradition of Sanskrit education.
Mr. Dhankar emphasized the need to utilize digital technology to preserve ancient documents. Despite Sanskrit’s vast literary corpus, its integration into mainstream education remains limited. Dhankar pointed out that this challenge is due to a colonialist mindset that disrespects India’s knowledge system.
