SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Independent School District is actively promoting literacy and healthy eating habits through several summer initiatives.
These programs are designed to support students’ literacy and wellness throughout the summer.
San Angelo Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Christopher Moran spoke about the inaugural “Watch Me Read” event held at Bellaire Elementary in May, where nearly 100 parents interacted with first- and second-graders and monitored their reading progress, and that the event will become an annual tradition.
The district’s San Angelo Read! initiative continued with a Summer Book Patrol, delivering bags filled with activity supplies, snacks, balloons and 144 books to 29 students and their siblings. Administrators, principals and educators from the district participated in the delivery.
SAISD provides free nutritious meals during summer meal program
Additionally, San Angelo ISD is informing families about its Summer Meals Program, where children and teens age 18 and under can enjoy free nutritious meals, including breakfast and lunch, at participating locations.
No registration or financial verification is required.
