“Khushi” actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been very vocal about the tumultuous years that were marked by a very public divorce and her battle with myositis, a rare autoimmune disease. Recently, in an interview with ELLE India, the “Pushpa” actress opened up about overcoming her personal crisis and finding solace in spirituality. Samantha was previously married to actor Naga Chaitanya and had taken a break from work in 2022 following her diagnosis.
When asked if there’s anything she wishes she’d done differently, the actress replied, “We all wish we could change certain parts of our lives, and sometimes I wonder if the things I went through were necessary. But looking back, I can’t imagine doing it any other way.”
She added that she’d recently discussed the subject with a friend, revealing that initially she wished the events of the past three years had never happened. But looking back, Samantha feels that whatever life throws at you, you just have to deal with it, and if you come out of it, you’ve won. “I feel stronger and more rooted than ever because of the hardships I’ve overcome to get to this point… I’d call it a spiritual awakening.”

Samantha spoke about how spirituality has given her comfort and guidance, reflecting that it has been essential to her personal growth and is evident in her approach to work and life, from communication and awareness to dealing with conflict. She emphasized that spirituality has given her the strength to overcome various hurdles: “In today’s world, with so much pain and illness, we need spirituality more than ever. I believe spirituality can be your best friend and a source of infinite strength.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya exchanged wedding vows in October 2017. After staying married for around four years, the couple announced their separation in October 2021 on their respective social media accounts.
Recently, Samantha made headlines when she repurposed her wedding dress for an event. Sharing a picture of her stunning new outfit, she wrote, “Rather than recognising the true value of our treasured possessions, we tend to assign certain thoughts and notions to them, whose value often exceeds our initial perception. Understanding the value of possessions and ideas beyond traditional definitions embodies the very essence of sustainability.”
On the work front, Samantha was recently seen in Kushi opposite Vijay Deverakonda and will be seen opposite Varun Dhawan in Raj and DK’s next series Citadel: Honey Bunny, a remake of the Hollywood series Citadel starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.
