The Rev. Oxford
The Office of Religion and Spiritual Life is under the direction of the University Chaplain, the Rev. Lynn Pace. The Chaplain is a resource for all members of the University community and an advocate for religious and spiritual life groups on campus. Programs and counseling services are provided by the Chaplain, and the resources of this office are available to all members of the University community regardless of race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, or ability.
During your stay, you will have the opportunity to participate in service, social, and religious programs hosted by the Chaplaincy Office, the Interfaith Council, and the University’s recognized Religious and Spiritual Life Group. Throughout the year, there are numerous events celebrating the traditions and holidays of various faiths.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of their affiliation to a religious, spiritual or faith tradition.

Fall Retreat
Every fall, the Oxford College community comes together for a weekend retreat. For over 30 years, this tradition is open to students, faculty, and staff looking for a fun, restful experience. Along with hiking, swimming, and campfire singing, you’ll also get to participate in programs designed to help you make the most of your time at Oxford.
Travel Program
The Office of Religion and Spiritual Life, in partnership with Pierce Religious Programs, sponsors two travel programs that encourage global engagement.
Global Connections
Global Connections is a travel experience designed to help students find meaning in life and connect their religious and spiritual beliefs with issues of justice including peace, poverty, human rights and the environment. Seminar and service activities provide opportunities for reflection and meaningful dialogue with others, empowering participants to become agents of change for healthy living at home and abroad.
The first Global Connections trip was in 2006 to Montana, where students studied issues of declining rural communities. Subsequent seminars have taken Oxford students, faculty, and staff to Poland, Vietnam, Turkey, Costa Rica, Germany, and the UK, where they participated in civil rights and tours of the American South, and learned about incarceration in Georgia and New York City. A 2018 trip saw participants return to Vietnam to study the impact of globalization in the country. A 2019 trip to New York City explored street and gallery art.
Journey
Journeys is a travel program that began at Oxford College in 1988. Students, faculty, and staff from Emory University’s Oxford and Atlanta campuses travel together and learn from the people they meet along the way. These trips focus on communities around the world with histories of conflict, violence, and exploitation. Each Journey is infused with the hope that participants will be transformed into more thoughtful, compassionate global citizens.
Previous travels have included El Salvador, Northern Ireland, South Africa, Costa Rica, India, the Middle East, Canada, Cuba, and most recently the Texas-Mexico border to study immigration issues.
