July 2, 12pm – 1pm: Mindful Journaling (Online): Deliberate and Mindful Reflection offers employees the opportunity to regain a sense of purpose by working through a collection of guided journaling prompts. Registration required.
July 9th, 11am-12pm: Mental Health Media Hour: This workshop will explore TV and film examples of mental health challenges. Join us as we explore some examples and dispel myths and stereotypes about mental health. Sessions will be held in Torgersen Hall (Bridge). Registration is required.
July 10, 8:30-9:00 a.m.: Guided meditation (online): Start your day with 30 minutes of guided meditation. This practice will develop mindfulness skills that may help you see the rest of your day in a new light. The program concludes with mindful chair yoga. Registration required.
July 10, 12:15pm-1pm: Child Safety: Preventing Heatstroke in Cars (Online): It’s important to understand that children are susceptible to heat stroke and that all heat stroke deaths in cars are preventable. We all play a role in preventing them from happening. Learn more about heat stroke in cars, how it occurs, and how to prevent it. Registration required.
July 11th, 12pm-1pm: How to Help a Loved One Recover (Hybrid): Joining Kaitlynn Carter as assistant director Join the Virginia Tech recovery community to learn how to best support your loved one’s recovery journey. “Recovery” can include substance use, pornography, gambling and other areas. Community resources will also be discussed. Sessions will be held via Zoom at the North End Center. Registration is required.
July 12th, 8:30am-4:30pm: Mental Health First Aid: MHFA removes fear and hesitation to begin conversations about mental health and substance use by increasing understanding and providing action plans that teach people how to safely and responsibly identify and address issues when they arise. Sessions will take place at the North End Center in a room to be announced at a later date. Registration is required.
July 16th, 12pm-1pm: Sleep Improvement Techniques (online): This virtual program provides information about what happens while you sleep and tips to start reaping the benefits of good quality sleep. Registration is required.
July 18th, 12pm-1pm: “Improvise” Your Communication: We will explore the benefits of learning the foundational aspects of improvisation and how those skills can be used to enhance communication in both personal and professional settings. The workshop will be held in the Goodall Room of Newman Library. Registration is required.
July 23, 12pm – 1pm: Brain Break: Join Hokie Wellness for a brain break. Bring your lunch and make a DIY craft. Materials will be provided. Sessions will take place in the North End Center in a room to be announced. Registration is required.
July 24, 12pm-1pm: Home Buying in 2024 (Online): Join Mark Creason of Virginia Credit Union to learn the ins and outs of buying a home in today’s tough housing market. Registration required.
July 25, 12:15pm – 1pm: Healthy Nutrition for Sleep (Online): This workshop will explore the relationship between nutrition and sleep and also discuss various foods associated with improved sleep. Registration is required.
July 30, 12pm-1pm: Resilience in the Workplace: Connectedness is Key (online): In this virtual workshop, participants will learn how social connections are key to promoting resilience, discuss different types of social support, and practice communication skills. Registration is required.
