“Designing an easy-drinking porter is like walking a tightrope,” says Nick Mamere, head brewer at Bartlett Hall. “On the one hand, a flabby, sweet beer that makes you want to move on after you’ve finished it; .

Bartlett Hall, located near the corner of O’Farrell and Powell Streets in San Francisco’s Union Square neighborhood, isn’t your typical brewpub. Porter also delighted our editorial team during a blind tasting session in October, so we named it one of the best 20 beers of 2023.
