The move is the latest in a long line of celebrities getting into fitness and wellness, and Lil Jon’s album is part of the rapper’s health journey, which he regularly shares on social media. are doing.

So what is guided meditation and how is it different from other forms of meditation?

What is guided meditation?

This practice is a type of meditation, with a teacher leading the session either in person or through video or audio.

Practitioners can choose from a series of themes based on their mood that day or what they want to accomplish, and achieve their goals through a series of thought processes and breathing techniques.

Breathing exercises are currently one of the most popular health hashtags on social media, breathing exercises are known to help manage stress and anxiety, reduce panic attacks and anger, and the importance of meditation That’s the part.

“Guided meditation can be beneficial for both beginners and seasoned meditators, depending on their preferences and needs,” says Camelia Salimi, founder of Zoga Yoga Studio in Dubai. “This form of meditation serves as a guide for beginners and makes meditation more accessible.”

“These sessions often focus on either breathing, body sensations, or visualization, and can help beginners maintain focus and secure an anchor if their mind wanders.” she says. “For experienced meditators, guided sessions can bring fresh perspectives and insights that you haven’t encountered before.”

Common themes for guided meditation include focus, resilience, creativity, purpose, and calmness, and teachers often suggest stimuli and intentions that may be beneficial to those new to meditation.

“The teacher gently guides the practitioner into their inner space, holds the energy field, and mediates in a way that gently brings the practitioner out of a meditative state,” says Meditation Facilitator at BodyTree Wellness Studio. , says Vandana Mendonca.

“Coming out of meditation, staying grounded and present after meditation is just as important as entering the meditative state. The teacher’s approach and intent will vary depending on the context in which the mediation is taking place.”

Who is guided meditation best for?

This practice is suitable for meditators of all levels, but is especially useful for beginners and young meditators.

“The main difference with guided meditation is that your sense of listening is activated, as opposed to when you meditate on your own,” says Mendonca. “Hearing guidance may be helpful for those who are finding it difficult to overcome the constant stream of thoughts that can prevent them from reaching that inner space.”

This version of meditation is also helpful for those who don’t know what they want to focus on, as the teacher can provide a variety of themes. Alternatively, if using the app, practitioners can choose from a set of suggestions.

Mendonca added: “In a studio environment, guided meditation sessions can offer more opportunities for personalization and interaction with the instructor. Participants can ask questions, receive individualized instruction, and discuss their meditation practice. Studio sessions create a sense of community and an opportunity to connect with like-minded people.”

What are the benefits of guided meditation?

“The benefits of guided meditation include mental well-being, which helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by promoting relaxation and peace of mind; and physical well-being to lower your immune system and boost your immune system,” says Dr. Suresh Vassen, MD, Functional Medicine, BodyTree Wellness Studio.

She added: “Behavioral well-being also benefits by promoting positive behavioral changes, such as improved sleep habits, healthier lifestyle choices, greater resilience to challenges, and increased career satisfaction.” ” he adds.

How to make guided meditation part of your day

“There are a variety of guided meditations online and through apps,” Mendonca says. “These seem like the easiest ways to incorporate a daily guided meditation. No matter which guided meditation you choose, dedicating a specific amount of time and space in your home each day will help you build habits and see results. It will help you check.”

There’s no need to meditate alone in a quiet room, with a variety of guided meditations available in yoga and wellness studios across the UAE and online.

Guided meditation walks and runs are also available, including on platforms like Nike and Apple, so you can incorporate meditation practices into your existing fitness regime or daily routine.

“Try to sit down every day, even if you only have five minutes,” says Salimi. “Start small to help you reach your goals. You can start with 5 minutes and increase by 1 minute each week.

“Dedicate one area of your home to this habit and make it a cozy, comfortable space. It’s about creating a routine and a safe space that you’ll want to come back to every day.”
