Fr Mark Ravizza SJ, Delegate for the Formation of the Society of Jesus, presented the history of protecting the formation of the Society of Jesus, providing evidence of the work that has been done and the curriculum in this area at all stages of the formation of the Society of Jesus. Shared the current need to advance. PCCP coordinators shared the initial rollout of this curriculum, which focuses on the community aspects of positive human development and socialization.
Father Jaramillo gave the meeting a clear social justice framework and reminded everyone that in this new PCCP phase, the most vulnerable must be at the center of our concerns and plans. Father Benoît Malveaux, Jesuit Procurator, shared important updates on canon law applicable to protection. Father John Dardis, General Counselor of the Discernment and Apostolic Program and Director of Pontifical Communications, shared with participants important communication guidelines in the face of incidents of abuse. Father Victor Assoad SJ, member of the World Commission on the Roles and Responsibilities of Jesuit Women, spoke about the Commission’s work and possibilities for cooperation.
This first in-person meeting helped foster a sense of community during the meeting to protect delegates and strengthened us in PCCP’s mission.
