Launch of “SMART 2.0” for Ayurvedic education experts

Central Council for Ayurvedic Scientific Research (CCRAS) National Board of Health Care System of India (NCISM) has launched the “SMART 2.0” (Scope of Mainstreaming Ayurvedic Research Among Educational Professionals) program to promote strong clinical research in priority areas of Ayurveda with Ayurvedic academic institutions/hospitals across the country through mutual collaboration. According to Prof. Ravinarayan Acharya (Vd), DG of CCRAS, the study aims to improve safety, tolerability in priority research areas such as bal kasa, malnutrition, inadequate breastfeeding, abnormal uterine bleeding, and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is said to be aimed at compliance with sex and Ayurvedic prescriptions.DiAbetes melitus (DM) II.
CCRAS is the apex body for formulating, coordinating, developing and promoting research on the scientific lineage of Ayurveda and functions under the Ministry of Ayush. The aim of ‘SMART 2.0’ is to use interdisciplinary research methods to generate concrete evidence demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of Ayurvedic interventions and its application to public health. “SMART 1.0” covered approximately 10 diseases with the active participation of faculty from 38 universities.
