Paula White Cain, president of Paula White Ministries and senior pastor of City of Destiny Church in Florida, spoke at the recent Faith & Freedom Coalition’s “Path to the Majority” conference at the Washington Hilton, where she shared her experience as a spiritual advisor to former President Donald Trump. Speaking to the group at the conference, she said her decades-long relationship with Trump began long before he even considered running for president. She revealed that Trump had complimented her on a sermon she had given him. “At the end of the sermon, he said, ‘You’ve got it in you,’ and I replied, ‘Yeah, we call it the anointing.’ And I really felt that in that moment, the Lord said, ‘Show me who I am.’ So for 24 years, I’ve had the great privilege of being in his life and really being his pastor,” she told the audience.
By 2011, Trump had contacted White-Cain to share his concerns for the country and to let him know he was considering a run for president. After Trump asked White-Cain what God thought, White-Cain and several others prayed. White-Cain then responded to Trump: “I said, ‘You’re going to be president one day.'” But at the time, he knew Trump’s path to the presidency would be difficult. “And the tears flowed and I told him, ‘I hate the price you’re going to have to pay.’ None of us could have imagined the price this man, his family, and so many of you will have to pay,” White-Cain said.
White-Cain has supported Trump ever since, leading an evangelical advisory council during his presidency in 2016. She also continues to support Trump after he was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records, and has instead directed her anger at the Biden administration and what she sees as attacks on Christianity. She pointed to the 2021 arrest of pro-life activist Mark Hack, who allegedly shoved an abortion clinic attendant who was harassing his 12-year-old son while protesting abortion. He was later acquitted of all charges, but White-Cain argued it was a sign of imminent danger to Christians. She warned the audience not to allow the Biden administration to hold the presidency. “Something is wrong. We have to stop it. We will absolutely make our voices heard in November. Satan, I’m tired of it…,” she said. “This is an ideology that is against God, against our faith, against our rights.”
