PRAYAGRAJ: As Prayagraj gears up to host Maha Kumbh next year, some of the major roads in the city will be beautified to tell the story of religion, spirituality and greatness of the Sangam city and this mega religious event. As per the plan, the Prayagraj Mela Authority will beautify 40 roads, which will also include widening. The selected roads will have scenes and stories related to Maha Kumbh and religious scenes like Sagar Manthan, Ganga Avtaran and various avatars of Vishnu, enhancing the travel experience of commuters. “We have selected many roads which are used by devotees and visitors coming to Maha Kumbh. These roads will be renovated based on themes. Some will have history and others will have spirituality,” said Vijay Kiran Anand, Adhikari, Kumbh Mela. He added that these roads will be smartly and beautifully developed to boost tourism. For example, on the road where Lal Padmadar was martyred, the event of his martyrdom will be displayed along with the date so that people can know the story of the brave heart. Similarly, the route of the Akala procession will have scenes from Peshwaği and Kumbh painted on it. Not just murals, but lighting will also be based on the theme. The roads selected for this ambitious project include Malaka Marg (from Pafamau Bridge end to Lucknow Bypass), Motilal Nehru Road (from Pafamau Bridge to Balsong Junction), Lajpat Rai Road to Mazar Junction, Stanley Road (from MNNIT Tripartite Road to Maharana Pratap Junction), Bakshi Bandh Dam Flyover to Balsong Square, Bakshi Bandh to Ganga Murti Tiraha Daragainj (Nagvasuki), Kasturba Gandhi Marg (from Maharana Pratap Junction to Hanuman Temple), Karippa Flyover, etc. The list also includes roads like Subedarganj to Bangrauri (Pritam Nagar Junction), Chaufatka to Khusro Bagh via Karbala Square, Nawab Yousuf Marg, both sides of PD Tandon Park, DRM Office Square to CAV Inter College, DRM Office to Station Road via Niranjan Bridge Under, Leader Road, Old GT Road, Medical College Square to Kotaparcha, Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Tulsidas Statue to CMP Degree College), CMP Degree College to Madhavapur Sabji Mandi, Mahatma Gandhi Marg to All Saints Cathedral, etc.
