Laura Henshaw spoke about the pressures she and other women face when it comes to becoming a mother.
The 31-year-old wellness influencer revealed last year that she was anxious about becoming a mother, and launched a podcast miniseries on the subject to raise awareness for others feeling the same way.
The social media star expressed concerns about how having a baby would affect her current successful life.

“I thought I’d feel ready when I turned 31, but over the last few years, the older I get, the more I feel like I’m not ready,” she told Mamamia magazine.
Laura, who is married to husband Dalton Henshaw, added that time played a big role in her decision, and that she felt time was “running out” quickly once she turned 30.
The influencer also mused about the possibility of pregnancy, speculating on whether having children would be “even possible” if she decided to start a family.
During an episode of the KICPOD podcast last year, Laura spoke about her fears of “losing myself” once she became a mother.
“I’m really scared of losing the life that I love and have worked so hard to build,” she said.
“I felt so alone, but when I opened up, I’ve never been inundated with so many messages from women who could relate.”
“There are so many things to consider. What if I wait TOO long? I would lose momentum in my career. My priorities would shift. I wouldn’t have time for myself or my husband. I started asking myself: Do I really want kids?

She also discussed the societal pressure to have children with articulate parenting guru Ann Davidman.
“You meet someone, you get married, you have kids, right? That’s been the status quo for so long that it’s hard to imagine an alternative,” Laura said.
“For a lot of people who don’t feel a calling to become a parent, that path doesn’t seem right. But if you grow up in a world where everyone you know, everyone you follow, and characters in every movie and TV show are getting married and having kids, how do you distinguish between what you want and what society wants? And if you decide to have children… does that mean all of your purpose has to switch to being a mother?”
Laura married her husband Dalton in November 2021, and he took her surname. She is also the co-founder of wellness brand Keep It Cleaner with model Steph Claire Smith.
