hyderabad: Madhuranagar police have arrested three people, one from Karnataka and two from Nagpur, for allegedly scamming people by selling fake Ayurvedic medicines. Officials confessed to 14 cases in which they recovered medicines from the accused and extorted Rs 1.9 million from them.
The accused set up 3-4 Ayurvedic medical stores around Hyderabad and visited isolated places such as shopping malls, hospitals, massage centers and other crowded places to treat cancer, paralysis, skin diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, knee pain, etc. We identified patients suffering from other diseases.
The defendant explained to the victim that the disease was curable and that a relative who had the same problem was cured after taking Ayurvedic medicines from the shop. Promising full recovery, they obtain phone numbers, make personal visits to victims’ residences, and create solutions by mixing different oils.
They claim to own Basmas, a traditional Ayurvedic plant that is only available in their stores, and charge victims hefty sums ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 300,000 or more for one gram. I did it.
Police have registered a case and efforts are on to nab the suspect, who is still at large.
