What is the story
Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed a 45-hour meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
He then penned a letter titled “A New Sankalp from Kanniyakumari Sadhana” in which he reflected on his experiences, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the future of India.
The gist of the Prime Minister’s letter is as follows:
PM Modi’s meditation and political reflections
Modi described his experience of meditation in the current political climate as like a void, where “heated political debates, attacks and counter-attacks, voices and recriminations” have disappeared.
He credited Kanyakumari and Swami Vivekananda for making his meditation experience “effortless”.
“In this isolation, in this peace and quiet, my mind was constantly on the bright future of India, India’s goals,” he said.
“India’s welfare serves the path to global progress.”
In his letter, the Prime Minister spoke about how India’s growth journey has been an inspiration to the world.
“India’s prosperity benefits the global journey of progress. India achieved independence on August 15, 1947. At that time, many countries were under colonial rule. India’s journey to independence inspired many countries to achieve their own freedom. That same spirit was seen decades later, when the world faced the once in a century COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
“The Indian model of governance is an example for many countries.”
He added that the Indian model of governance serves as an example for many countries across the world.
“Lifting 250 million people out of poverty in 10 years is unprecedented. Innovative initiatives like citizen-friendly good governance, aspirational districts and aspirational blocks are being discussed across the world. From helping the poor to last-mile delivery, our efforts have inspired the world by prioritizing individuals at the margins. India’s Digital India campaign has now become an example for the entire world,” PM Modi said.
PM reminds people of their responsibilities towards India
Prime Minister Modi also reminded the people of their responsibility towards the nation.
“India’s development trajectory gives us pride and glory, but it also reminds us of our responsibilities to our 1.4 billion people,” he said.
“We have to view India’s development in global terms. For this, it is essential to understand India’s domestic capabilities. We have to recognise India’s strengths, nurture them and use them for global benefit,” he added.
“Let us come together and create a Vikshit Bharat.”
The Prime Minister called on the people to take India to new heights.
“Let the next 25 years be dedicated to the nation. Our efforts will lay a strong foundation for the next generation and the next century and take India to new heights. Looking at the energy and enthusiasm of the country, I can say that the goal is not far away. Let us act fast… Let us work together to create a Vikshit India,” he said.
