Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditates at Vivekananda Rock Memorial: Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed a 45-hour meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu on Saturday, June 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a religious visit to Kanniyakumari and had been meditating at Dhyan Mandapam, the spot where revered Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision of ‘Bharat Mata’.
This coincides with the end of voting in the final phase of the 2024 Indian Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, former Bihar deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday dismissed PM Modi’s religious activity in Kanniyakumari as merely a “photo-op”.
“Modi is not meditating and is only taking part in a photoshoot. Once the photoshoot is over, they will come back,” Tejashwi Yadav said.
PM Modi arrived at Kanniyakumari on Thursday, May 30. According to mythology, Goddess Parvati also used to meditate on one leg at the same place while waiting for Lord Shiva.
This is the southernmost point of India. It is where the east and west coasts of India meet. It is also where the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea meet. PM Modi is sending a signal of national unity by visiting Kanniyakumari.
PM Modi on Thursday concluded the seventh and final round of campaigning for India’s 2024 Lok Sabha elections, to be held on June 1, in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
In 75 days, PM Modi held around 206 campaign events, including rallies and roadshows. He also gave around 80 interviews to various news and media platforms.
The prime minister is known to undertake spiritual journeys at the end of election campaigns – in 2019 he visited Kedarnath and in 2014 he visited Shivaji’s Pratapagarh.
Elections to India’s 543-seat lower house of parliament will be held in seven phases starting on April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
