Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday 45 Hours of Meditation at Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari He also paid floral tributes to Tamil saint-poet Thiruvalluvar. During his visit to the memorial, PM Modi wrote a message in the visitors’ book in which he wrote, “I will devote every moment of my life to the service of the nation.”
“I am visiting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, experiencing the divine and extraordinary energy. At this memorial, Goddess Parvati and Swami Vivekananda performed penance. Later, Eknath Ranade realised the ideas of Swami Vivekananda by establishing this place as a memorial,” PM Modi wrote.
“Swami Vivekananda, the pioneer of spiritual revival, is my inspiration, source of energy and foundation of my practice. It was here that Swami Vivekananda meditated after his pan-India travels and found a new direction for India’s revival. Today, after so many years, I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to train in this sacred place, as Swami Vivekananda’s values and ideals shape the India of his dreams,” the Prime Minister wrote.
“My retreat at this rock monument is one of the finest moments of my life. Today, as I sit at the feet of Ma Bharti, I reiterate my resolve to always devote every moment of my life and every part of my body to the service of the nation. I bow repeatedly to Mother India, praying for the development of the nation and the welfare of its people,” he added.
After the meditation session, Prime Minister Modi, dressed in white, Visited the 133 feet tall statue of Thiruvalluvarnext to the rock memorial, where they laid a huge wreath in his memory.
During his stay at the monument, the Prime Minister meditated and performed ‘Surya Argya’, a ritual associated with the Sun God, at sunrise time.
