NEW DELHI: In a show of national unity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kanyakumari, marking the culmination of his election campaign from May 30 to June 1, when India will be voting in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Sources said the Prime Minister will visit the rock memorial in Kanyakumari and meditate day and night from May 30 evening to June 1 evening at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same spot where Swami Vivekananda meditated.
Kanyakumari is where Swami Vivekananda had his vision of Bharat Mata.
This rock had a great impact on the life of Swami Vivekananda. People believe that just as Sarnath holds a special place in the life of Gautam Buddha, so too does this rock hold a similar place in Swami Vivekananda’s life. After wandering across the country and meditating for three days, Vivekananda reached here and came up with his vision of an evolved India.
“Meditating at the same spot demonstrates Prime Minister Modi’s determination to actualise Swami Guru’s vision of ‘Vikshit Bharat’,” a senior BJP leader said.
According to mythology, Goddess Parvati also used to meditate on one leg at the same place while waiting for Bhagwan Shiva.
It is the southernmost point of India. It is also where the east and west coasts of India meet, and where the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea meet.
The Prime Minister is known to undertake a spiritual journey at the end of his election campaign. In line with this, he will reach Kanyakumari on May 30 and will stay there till June 1. The Prime Minister had visited Kedarnath in 2019 and Shivaji’s Pratapagarh in 2014.
