Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Nobel laureate Austrian physicist Anton Zeilinger and discussed the potential of quantum information and quantum technology, as well as spirituality.
After the interaction, the Austrian physicist said, “I realised that Prime Minister Modi is a very spiritual person. I think this is a trait that many leaders in the world today should possess.”
The Prime Minister held delegation-level discussions with his Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer on Wednesday on several key issues, including the Ukraine conflict and global fight against terrorism. Addressing a joint press conference with Nehammer in Vienna, Prime Minister Modi reiterated that “now is not the time for war.”

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Austria from Moscow on Tuesday evening for a two-day visit – the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 40 years. Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg received Modi at the airport. Ahead of his official meeting with Austrian Chancellor Nehammer on Wednesday, PM Modi said India-Austria friendship is strong and will continue to grow stronger. On Tuesday, PM Modi met PM Nehammer on personal business.
“A significant milestone in the India-Austria partnership! Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer for a private meeting. This is the first meeting between the two leaders. Discussions will now begin to realise the full potential of our bilateral partnership,” Jaiswal said in a post on X along with a picture of the two leaders together in Vienna.
