Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on the occasion of his inauguration: “Our government’s priority is to increase immunity and the ability to fight disease. We are focusing on nutrition. Ayush and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the event virtually from Kalyani, West Bengal, where AIIMS was established by the Prime Minister. The first event was held at the premises of Central Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy in Jhajjar (Haryana) and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar attended the event along with other dignitaries.
The Central Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy in Jhajjar (Haryana) has been constructed under the aegis of the Ministry of Ayush. This is an apex yoga and naturopathy research and teaching facility. Through this project, a high-level yoga and naturopathy medical infrastructure will be created. The institute includes a 200-bed hospital with OPD, treatment block, academic block, hostel and residential block, apart from yoga and diet blocks. The 19-acre project was constructed at a cost of Rs 6,388 crore.
NISARG GRAM is a 250-bed hospital with a multidisciplinary research and extension services center in addition to a naturopathic medical college for Undergraduate (UG)/Postgraduate (PG)/Para medical courses. The university also has residential and non-residential facilities consisting of Boys & Girls Hostel, auditorium, yoga hall, cottages and the famous Gandhi Memorial is also an integral part of the campus. The 25-acre project will cost a total of Rs 213.55 crore.
The National Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (NIN) in Pune and the Central Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) in Deverkhana Village, Jhajjar are important milestones in the promotion of holistic medicine through traditional medical systems. These institutes are leveraging diverse approaches such as hydrotherapy, massage, clinical nutrition, and yoga therapy to address emerging medical challenges, particularly the prevention and treatment of prevalent non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
