Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday recited ‘Surya Argya’ at sunrise at the Vivekananda rock memorial here as part of his meditation.
Prime Minister Modi performed the Surya Argya ritual, a spiritual practice in which God is worshipped in the form of the sun and prayed to him.
In a short video clip titled “Sunrise, Surya Argya, Spirituality” posted by the BJP under the handle “X”, the Prime Minister can be seen pouring small amounts of water from a small traditional beaker-like vessel into the ocean as an offering (argya) and praying with prayer beads (japa mala).

The BJP also posted pictures of the Prime Minister, clad in a saffron shirt, shawl and dhoti, meditating in the Dhyan Mandapam. Incense sticks were seen burning slowly in front of the Prime Minister. PM Modi was also seen walking around the mandapam with a japa mala in his hand.
The photograph of PM Modi in a meditative pose was apparently taken at a different time, as was the video clip.
